Benefits of Chinese Herbal Medicine

Scientific research and studies continue to confirm that traditional theories of herbal medicine do in fact coincide with the known therapeutic effects of the substances in the plant. However, plant remedies are preferable to common pharmaceutical drugs because they contain more complex substances and are more balanced compared to drugs that are made of a single ingredient. The herbs in their natural state eaten as food, are far less likely than drugs to cause side effects. In addition to treating symptoms, Chinese herbal medicine aims to free the internal imbalances and help the patient’s body reach a healthy equilibrium by encouraging natural healing and homeostasis.

Chinese herbal medicine is based on the philosophies of Yin-Yang, Qi and various other pathways through which the essential balance of vitality may be diminished or blocked. Chinese herbal medicine has a strong emphasis on the health of mind, body and spirit; it is prescribed by the careful study of patterns in symptoms. Remedies are aimed to treat the imbalances in the entirety of the body as well as the specific health concerns. Chinese Herbal medicine and traditional Chinese medicine are fundamentally based on the philosophy that the ideal state of well-being is more than just being free of disease; the ideal remedy ensures the prevention of future illness, encourages the maintenance of health, and therefore maximizes the life-force, vitality and happiness of an individual.
